Description
Poplar Grove Syrah is crafted in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, from a blend of 95% Syrah, 4% Malbec, and 1% Viognier. The grapes are handpicked from Haynes Vineyards on the Osoyoos East Bench, known for its warm climate and complex soils. The wine undergoes a four-day cold soak before fermentation and is aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, with a quarter in new French oak and the remainder in two-year-old barrels. After aging, the wine is further developed in the bottle for 21 months at the winery before release, allowing it to mature and integrate its flavors. ​This Syrah displays a deep purple color and offers aromas of dark berries, tobacco, and leather. The palate reveals flavors of cassis, black cherry, and vanilla, with a smooth finish and soft, rich tannins. The wine’s structure and complexity make it suitable for aging, with potential for further development over the next decade.
