Description
The Monna Lisa Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from Vignamaggio is a testament to the winery’s commitment to quality and tradition. Named in honor of Leonardo da Vinci’s muse, who is believed to have been born at the Vignamaggio estate in 1479, this wine embodies the essence of its historic origins. Crafted predominantly from carefully selected Sangiovese grapes, with the addition of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine undergoes meticulous vinification. After malolactic fermentation, it is aged partly in French oak barriques for 18-20 months and partly in larger barrels, culminating in a total aging period of at least 30 months, including a minimum of 6 months in the bottle. The result is a full-bodied, elegant wine with a complex bouquet featuring aromas of sun-warmed grapes, hints of vanilla, tobacco, licorice, and earthy notes such as leather. On the palate, it delivers a harmonious balance of fruit and structure, showcasing the potential for long-term aging.
