Description
Tilia Bonarda is a testament to Argentina’s dedication to sustainable viticulture. Sourced from the El Mirador and Rivadavia vineyards in eastern Mendoza, the grapes benefit from clay soils and elevations of approximately 2,600 feet. The vines, planted between 1950 and 1970, are cultivated using the parral training method. Harvested between April and May, the grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by a 15-day maceration process involving techniques like racking, punchdowns, and delestage. The wine is then aged for six months in a combination of French and American oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, with 10% new oak, before bottling. This meticulous process results in a wine with a deep violet color and a nose rich in dark fruit marmalade and spice. The palate is greeted with a sweet entry, leading to flavors of bright basil leaves and blueberries, all wrapped in soft, round tannins. Tilia Bonarda pairs exceptionally well with game meats, mushroom-based dishes, and traditional Argentine asado. Notably, Tilia is the first Argentine wine to carry the Bodegas de Argentina Certified Sustainable Seal on its label, reflecting its commitment to environmental stewardship.
