La Maldita Garnacha hails from the esteemed Rioja region in northern Spain, an area renowned for its rich winemaking heritage. The name “La Maldita,” meaning “The Damned One,” refers to the Garnacha grape’s historical challenges in cultivation due to its low yields and thin skin. Despite these challenges, this wine showcases the grape’s potential when given the care it deserves. Produced from old vines located in Tudelilla and Central Rioja, the grapes undergo a winemaking process where 30% is aged in barrels for three months, while the remainder matures on its lees in tanks. This method imparts complexity and depth to the wine.
