Description
The Botanist Islay Dry Gin stands out in the world of spirits due to its unique origin and composition. Produced by Bruichladdich Distillery, known for its innovative approach to whisky, this gin embodies the essence of Islay—a Scottish island famed for its rugged landscapes and rich biodiversity. What sets The Botanist apart is its use of 31 botanicals, 22 of which are hand-foraged from the hills, shores, and bogs of Islay. These include wild herbs and flowers such as chamomile, meadowsweet, and wood sage, which are carefully selected to capture the island’s unique terroir. The remaining 9 botanicals are traditional gin ingredients like juniper berries, coriander seed, and citrus peels. The distillation process is equally distinctive. Using “Ugly Betty,” one of the last remaining Lomond stills, the gin undergoes a slow, 17-hour distillation. This method allows for a gentle extraction of flavors, resulting in a spirit that is both complex and balanced.
